Without evil there could be no good so it must be good to be evil sometimes.

Songs to listen to at 3am with headphones on...

Posted by lemmiwinks Dec. 29, 2008 @ 9:18 AM EST

Don't let the title of "News post" fool you, this isn't a place to post news. It's a blog. And I, like many emos before, shall take part in this pointless, public diary.
So I have, aparently, the worlds first mp3 player, which can only hold like 11 songs. And I'm now going to share with you my playlist, and what each song means to me... well kinda, because theres only so many times I can watch my Mighty Duck's DVDs and not be bored anymore.

"Your 8th Birthday" by Cloud Cult.
Probably the most obscure band/song on the play list. I'd be suprised if you've heard this song. Not because I'm so hip, I'm the only one who knows about this band. But because they get next to no exposure, I couldn't even find a youtube video of the song. So this song is about the lead singers dead son *sad face*. It's pretty sad when he's just shouting "Kaiden".

"Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset" by Modest Mouse
This song just sounds nice. Especially if your high. Not that I condone that kind of thing.

"Mr Brightside" (The Killers cover) by Tommy Reilly
This mp3 I ripped from youtube. I first heard this accidentally when I was just channel surfing on a sunday morning (I was crazy hung over), and it made me feel a litte better. I don't know what I like about it, because the kids sure as hell can't sing. Maybe it's the piano... but whatever It is, I sort of fell in love with it.

"Sunflower" by Low
I heart this song greatly. I fall asleep to it most nights.

"Not The Sun" by Brand New
Brand new are probably my favourite band right now. All their songs are incredibly well written, it was hard not to just put most of "The Devil and God..." on the MP3. I can't wait for them to tour England.

"The Funeral" by Band Of Horses
Another song I want to marry and have other little songs with.

"Savior" by Rise Against
It was pretty hard to pick just one Rise Against song, because I love them so. But I went for my favourite song off their new album.

"Disarm" by The Smashing Pumpkins
A classic. Probably in my top 5 songs ever.
A post that I will probably write next time I'm this fucking bored.

"All Hope Is Gone" by Slipknot
It's at this point, when uploading song onto my MP3 player, that I realised that I'll be hooking it up to the car. And while I love listening to depressing song's and thinking about "her", this (so far) isn't a driving playlist. So I picked any Slipknot song at random, to fix this.

"Helter Skelter" by The Beatles
Another driving song, but I also lost a bet 4 years ago that I always have to have a Beatles song on any MP3 Player I own.

"Artist In The Ambulance" by Thrice
Pretty old, but it never seems to wear on me. Saw it live a few months ago and nearly wet my pants.

"Demolition Lovers" by... *cough* My Chemical Romance.
THAT'S RIGHT. Who among you would admit to that. Just to clarify things, I hate the new MCR. With their matching uniforms and songs about banging dudes. But I did genuinely enjoy their first album, when they vaugley punk and before the whole damn emo culture. And look how (kinda) normal they look in this video. It's like they're real people.

"Winter" by Josh Radin
I first heard this on Scrubs in the one where Ben dies. It made me sad D:

"Radio Protector" by 65DaysOfStatic
A bit of a weird one since it doesn't have any lyrics. But it's definatly a beautiful track none the less. It'd go really well in a trailer I think...

"Milk" By The Kings Of Leon
Remember when KOL weren't all popular and people where like "The kings of who?". I miss thoes times. This is probably my favourite track from "Aha Shake Heartbreak". Not including the riff from "The Bucket"

"Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails
I like it better than Cash's version, I really do. Don't get me wrong, I wanna cry like a baby everytime I see the video but there's something about the original that hurts my soul.

"Peices Of What" by MGMT
I only found this song recently, but I really like it. Thats all I have to say about it.

"Faithfully" by Journey
Fuck yeah. Best used here.

"Hey" by The Pixies
I first heard this like 2 months ago watching "Zack and Miri..." and there was something about the was it was used which was hella tragic. I don't usuall like Kevin Smith movies but I did enjoy that...

Anyway that's about it. The line up changes every week or so, so this post will become pointless (as if it already isn't) in like 4 days.

Well wasn't that fun.

p.s. Anyone wanna play Left 4 Dead with me? I'm a dynomite team-mate.
